What the General Science & Ability paper covers

Two distinct halves. The science half draws on physical sciences, biological sciences, environmental science, food science, energy, and information technology, pitched at an informed general level rather than at specialist depth. The ability half tests quantitative reasoning, logical reasoning, and mental ability — arithmetic, series, data interpretation and problem solving.

How to actually use these papers

Most candidates read past papers and stop there. Reading them is not practice. These four habits are what turn a paper archive into marks.

Once you have written an answer, you can have it marked in the style of an FPSC examiner using the AI Answer Checker, or a full essay with the AI Essay Grader. Both are free to try.

Which years are available?

Ten papers, covering 2016 to 2025 with no gaps.

What is the split between science and ability in the paper?

The paper has a science component and a reasoning component. The science side spans physical, biological, environmental and food sciences plus information technology; the ability side covers quantitative and logical reasoning. Check the current FPSC syllabus for the exact weighting in your exam year.

Do I need a science background to attempt GSA?

No. The science content is pitched at an informed general level, not at specialist depth. Candidates from arts backgrounds score well on it regularly; the ability half is where most marks are won or lost.
