What this paper is
Mock Exam 1 is a full-length practice paper for the FPSC MCQ-based Preliminary Test. It has 200 questions carrying one mark each, no negative marking, and a 200-minute limit — the same shape as the real screening test. The passing standard is 33%, meaning 66 correct answers.
The questions are distributed across the five sections in the proportions FPSC uses, so the sections that cost you marks here are the sections that will cost you marks in the actual test.
| Section | Questions |
|---|---|
| General Abilities — quantitative, analytical and mental reasoning | 60 |
| English | 50 |
| General Knowledge — Everyday Science, Current Affairs, Pakistan Affairs | 50 |
| Islamic Studies (Civics & Ethics for non-Muslim candidates) | 20 |
| Urdu — grammar, usage and translation | 20 |
| Total | 200 |
Sit this one cold
This paper is most useful as a baseline: a measurement of where you actually are before you revise anything. That only works if you sit it under real conditions.
- Do it in one sitting. The MPT tests concentration across 200 minutes as much as it tests knowledge, and a paper you did in four sessions tells you nothing about that.
- Do not look anything up. A score you assisted is a number you cannot use.
- Answer every question. There is no negative marking, so a blank and a wrong answer score the same — there is never a reason to leave one.
- Keep an eye on the clock. That is 60 seconds a question including reading time.
What happens when you submit
You get your score immediately, broken down so you can see which section pulled it down, and a full review with an explanation for every question — including the ones you got right, because a lucky guess is a gap you have not found yet.
Your answers save as you go, so refreshing the page, closing the tab or losing your connection resumes the same attempt where you left off, as long as the timer has not run out. If you are signed in, each attempt is kept and shown on your My Progress page. Retakes are unlimited and free.
After this paper
Work on whichever section cost you most, using the weightage above to decide what is worth your time — English alone is a quarter of the paper. Then sit Mock Exam 2 about a week later under the same conditions and compare. It is a different set of 200 questions at the same weightage, so the comparison is meaningful.
